Bellman Visit 868 Carbon monoxide detector
This device is part of the Visit warning system. The intended purpose of the system is
to warn deaf and hard of hearing people of important signals in their home. The CO detector is triggered by toxic levels of carbon monoxide in the home and sends a signal to the
Visit receiver that alerts the user with sound, flashes or vibrations.
This CO detector is part of the Visit smart home system that helps you secure your home. It detects dangerous concentrations of carbon monoxide at an early stage and transmits the alarm directly to your Visit receiver, so that you can get out of the danger zone in time.
What is carbon monoxide?
Many people die every year from carbon monoxide poisoning and many more become pregnant
sick from carbon monoxide (CO).CO is an invisible, odorless, tasteless and extremely poisonous gas. It
is produced by appliances and vehicles that burn fuels such as coal, oil,
natural/bottled gas, paraffin, wood, petrol, diesel, charcoal, etc. CO is dissolved above oxygen by red
blood cells absorbed into the lungs. Due to lack of oxygen, the heart and brain become fast
affected.
High CO levels in a home can be caused by:
Improperly or poorly installed fuel-burning appliances.
Blocked or cracked chimneys/flues.
Blocked vents or seals causing fuel burning areas
appliances or fireplaces are made airtight.
Vehicle engines, lawn mowers, etc. left running in tight spaces.
Portable paraffin or gas heaters in poorly ventilated rooms.
